Is boxing effective in losing weight?

I have a friend who is into boxing and I find her figure changed for the better with better muscle tone. That made me think of trying boxing although not for fighting but just for the workout that I can get. Would it be all right to undergo boxing training if my main purpose is just to lose weight and to get a better body figure?

You could try something called "Boxercise" ... It's HIIT based on boxing moves, a lot of people find it enjoyable as well as a great way to keep fit and lose weight.

Yes, it can lose weight. It will help you release stress every time you punch. It can also develop your strength. I have not tried proper boxing exercise but I do basic routine after taking a walk. I notice a strong strength on my left side arm unlike before its too weak. It also help lose fats on my tummy which I like the most.

Boxing can be effective in defending yourself from someone. Not only you lose some weight but you will learn some techniques in landing a punch a well. Also, you gain knowledge in dodging and blocking ways from your enemy's attacks.

I think its a yes. Boxing can lose weight. I oftenly see man whose hobby in life is boxing and at the same time it serve as their exercise also.
