Is Shaolin Drunken Fist really effective?
« on: August 29, 2018, 08:11:42 PM »
I first saw this style in an old Jacky Chan Movie titled The Snake in the Eagle's Shadow and I was amazed by the erratic movement which looks comical and simply a waste of movement and energy.  What are your thoughts about the Drunken Fist?

I think this one is effective by not to feel anything even your opponents hit you hard, and being drunk helps you to become brave and like a fighting machine, but I really don't know how effective is that strategy or simply how to control your punches or how to stick to your plan while fighting because our mind is really out of control when we're drunk.  :D

I think that style of fighting is only effective in movies because it doesn't look natural aside from the obvious lack of power. But I am not saying that the Shaolin drunken fist is not true because I know that Shaolin monks have developed so many fighting styles.
