Is running part of the training for martial arts?

Is running part of the training for martial arts?

I know that boxers have their jogging for the build up of stamina. But for a tae kwon do fighter do they need to run for long distances when all they do is to kick? Likewise with judokas who fight in a small area that I don't think they need that stamina from jogging.
