Branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) or Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) are a important supplement for athletes and bodybuilders. It a pure form of essential muscle recovery and muscle repair nutrients which your body can readily use. But few people know it's true source of how they are produced. Most manufacturers admit their BCAAs are produced from human hair, pigs hair or duck feathers - which is gross!

The battle of having the best mobile phone between Apple and Samsung is always a common debate every year as both tech giants release newer and better handsets every year.

I personally prefer Samsung as it offers more flexibility over how you configure your device without having a locked down OS which is reliant on iTunes etc - currently using a Samsung Note 8, it can do pretty much everything the latest iPhone can but at easily £250 cheaper cost.

I admit few years back Samsung were way behind the pace... but in the last couple of years the tables have turned, Samsung are definitely at the top!  8)

Here's a list of natural foods which greatly enhance your bodies fat burning ability...

  • Green Tea - One of the key components found in green tea is Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It's a potent antioxidant that reduces fat gain and enhances fat-burning. But the amount found in a typical cup of green tea is not enough to have much effect, therefore you would need to drink multiple cups of green tea a day to have any effect.


  • Green Coffee Bean -  Green coffee bean extract works via a process called thrmogenesis, helping to increase the heat produced in our cells, which burns energy, including fat. Green (raw) coffee beans also have a high level of the compound chlorogenic acid. Studies indicate that this may interfere with the absorption of carbohydrates in the digestive tract, leading to reduced insulin resistance and fat deposition.


  • Turmeric - A compund called Curcumin, found in turmeric, can reduce the formation of fat tissue by suppressing the blood vessels needed to form it. Curcumin may also have an effect on fat metabolism, which may contribute to lower body fat and body weight gain.


  • Cumin - Cumin is rich in phytosterols, plant chemicals known to inhibit the absorption of cholesterol in the body. Studiesd and research show the spice has weight-loss benefits and also speculate that cumin, like other hot spices, temporarily increases metabolic rate.


  • Cinnamon - Cinnamon increases the metabolism of glucose by mimicking behaviour of insulin. Since high blood sugar levels can lead to increased storage of fat by the body, cinnamon helps prevent this increased storage of fat and enables you to lose weight


  • Ginger - Ginger has a thermogenic effect on the body, which means it raises your internal temperature by enough to burn more calories and use more energy. It also aids digestion which contributes to the metabolic boost it gives.


  • Fenugreek - Fenugreek helps to balance blood glucose levels. Fenugreek seeds are thought to contain fibre and other chemicals that help to slow the body’s absorption of carbohydrates and sugars. This helps to reduce blood sugar level spikes and the storage of fat. It also aids the metabolism of fats so they are used as energy rather than stored.

For those of you want a quick metabolism boost to help shed those pounds or lean up, here's a morning drink to have first thing upon waking up. It definitely isn't tasty but it sure will help you acheive your weight loss goals!

Ingredients:
  • 2 table spoons - Apple cider vinegar (Preferably a reputable brand like Braggs)
  • 1 teaspoon - Organic black seed oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon - Cayenne pepper
  • 1 lemon - Freshly squeezed lemon juice

One of the most common talked about topics in the gym amongst athletes is how to enhance or boost testosterone production, more importantly those who don't wish to artificially increase testosterone using steroids etc would like to know how to do this naturally.

Unfortunately I don't believe there is any natural supplement on the market which can increase your body's testorone production past it's maximum threshold BUT there are certain products which can help your body always produce optimum levels based on your body's abililty - therefore you are able to be fitter, stronger and be able to reach your fitness goals i.e. muscle gain, fat loss regardless of age.

The following combination of supplements can enable your body to produce testosterone at it's peak level, dosage and how your body reacts will vary depending on current health and fitness levels but research has shown these do help when taken for a minimum of 3 months.


  • D-Aspartic Acid - Natural amino acid that can boost low testosterone levels by increasing luteinizing hormone in the body which in turn makes the Leydig cells in the testes produce more testosterone.

  • Vitamin D - Its active form functions as a steroid hormone in the body. Increasing your vitamin D stores may boost testosterone and improve other related health measures, such as sperm quality.

  • Tribulus Terrestris - Research shows this has an effect to help increase testosterone in individuals by roughly 16% who suffer from low levels. Although it doesn't do much for already healthy athletes or individuals.

  • Fenugreek - One of the most popular herb based testosterone boosters. Some research suggests it may work by reducing the enzymes that convert testosterone into estrogen. Research over an 8 week priod has shown those taking fenugreek experienced an increased in both free and total testosterone levels. Fat loss and strength also increased amongst individuals compared to those who ddin't take fenugreek.

  • Ginger - Ginger also has properties which help with testosterone levels. Research indicates ginger increases luteinizing hormone, similar to how D-Aspartic acid does in order to increase testosterone.

  • Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) - DHEA is a naturally occuring hormone in the body, it plays a role in boosting testosterone and controlling estrogen levels. Several studies have found that 50-100 mg of DHEA per day can boost testosterone levels by up to 20% when compared to a placebo.

  • Zinc - It is an essential mineral involved in over 100 chemical processes within the body. As with vitamin D, zinc levels within the body have been closely associated with testosterone levels.

  • Ashwagandha - This herb is also known as Withania somnifera, ashwagandha is a herb used in ancient Indian medicine. Research over a 3 month period indicated males who took this herb had between 10-22% increase in testosterone levels.
